Privacy statement

§ 1 Information on the collection of personal data

(1) We want to inform you regarding the manner, the scope and the purpose of collecting and using personal data via our website. Personal data includes names, addresses, email addresses or information indicating individuals’ online activity, such as the analysis of IP addresses.

(3) In case you contact us via email we will store the data submitted by you (your email address and as the case may be your name, phone number or other contact details) in order to answer your requests. We delete such data once their storage is not necessary anymore or we restrict the use of the data in case there are statutory obligations to retain the data.

 

§ 2 Collection of personal data when accessing our website

As long as you are not using the option to contact us via email or register for the GSLA Members’ Area, no further personal data will be collected.

 

§ 3 Using the GSLA Members’ Area of our website

If you are a member of the Deutsch-Südafrikanische Juristenvereinigung e.V./German-South African Lawyers’ Association (GSLA) you may contact the head office of the GSLA in order to obtain access to the GSLA Members’ Area of the website. You will receive access data that you can use to register using a password of your own choice as well as a user name. For the purpose of registration we make use of the so called Double-Opt-In meaning that the registration is completed only once you confirm the link contained in the confirmation email.

If you are registered for the GSLA Members’ Area and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

For users that are registered for the GSLA Members’ Area, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Such users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Users that are registered for the GSLA Members’ Area can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us; to do so please contact the GSLA head office. Such users can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you regarding  the GSLA Members’ Area. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
